Frequently Asked Questions:
The cost per season for travel soccer is $100. In addition to this flat fee, parents can expect to spend $100-$150 on uniforms (once purchased, worn for 2 years) and tournament fees. Tournament fees will vary, depending on which tournaments your child’s coach decides to attend. Each coach should have a general idea of the tournaments they plan to attend and an estimated cost prior to the beginning of the season. This is a great question to ask coaches while attending tryouts.
Just like rec, the Fall season has 10 and the Spring season has 8. Each season, half of those games are away and half are home.
Generally speaking, all of the teams in our league (NWYSL) are within and hour to an hour and a half of Bluffton – for many teams, the furthest drive they make is North, to Sylvania. That being said, some of your away games will be much closer, like Ottawa, Findlay, and Ada. No one will know for certain where their games will be until the league puts out the official schedules.
Travel coaches work with the coaches within their division to schedule their own games. For example, if coaches know half of their team attends church on Wednesday nights, they generally have the flexibility to avoid having Wednesday night games.
The short answer is “yes”. Per the league guidelines, coaches MUST watch every player play prior to offering them a spot on their team. That being said, if you feel you have extenuating circumstances resulting in your player’s inability to attend, please feel free to reach out to the club and see IF alternate arrangements can be made.
- The players that come to tryouts; teams are formed based on birth year – players can play “up” as many as two years (ex. A player with a 2013 birthday will be U12 in the Fall, meaning they can play up to U14). Ideally, the bulk of a team’s players will be in their “correct” age group, and not have more than a few young “outliers”.
- All of our coaches do so on a volunteer basis – the club is always looking for reliable experienced coaches
No one will be offered a spot on a team that has yet been matched with a suitable coach.
